You will be part of the Housing Investment & Asset Management Service which delivers a wide range of projects across asset management, sustainability and energy, mechanical & electrical and planned and major capital works for our housing stock of approximately 12,500 properties.
The aim of the service is to focus on improving housing quality and supply, achieving carbon reductions, improving the services and living conditions of our residents and reducing homelessness across the city.

About the role
The role of Clerk of Works will be to:
- Inspect construction maintenance and improvement works carried out to council housing stock during or after its completion
- Complete inspection reports and document any quality issues with work or materials used, in conjunction with contractual specifications and legislative standards
- Carry out independent sign off inspections in support of the delivery of new homes
- Monitor that corrective actions are taken following the identification of issues
- Survey work where issues have been identified from residents or stakeholders outside the organisation
You will work within the Business & Performance Team team to undertake property surveys and produce reports in connection with maintenance & improvement work the council undertakes. These visits will be independent of the teams delivering the works, and are designed to give assurances that all work is being delivered to a high standard. You will work cross service with colleagues from our delivery teams, our repairs service and our Customer Services team to help manage and advise on individual cases where issues are reported.
You may also be asked to participate in showing resident inspectors completed pieces of work for them to look at in empty homes, new homes and work delivered through our capital programmes.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Working arrangements are subject to Government guidance at the time. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
The Council is still currently piloting its hybrid working arrangements, but there may be a requirement in the future to return to office based working.
