The London borough of Havering is looking to recruit a dynamic full time member of staff to join their Education Provision & Inclusion team. This exciting new post will take an active lead in the promotion of the extensive range of education provision including statutory and traded work, as well as engaging with a range of education settings to stimulate engagement with corporately provided services to enhance the good work completed by Havering’s educational settings.

The Education Provision & Inclusion Team covers a wide remit, ranging from Early Years to Primary and Secondary Schools, to supporting post-16 learning and engagement for young people, and a range of extended learning opportunities for adults.  This post will report directly into the Head of Education Provision and Inclusion.

The position of Education Provision Engagement Specialist requires an individual with creativity, motivation and enthusiasm in supporting the Senior Management Team with a range of complex promotional activity to both raise the profile of the service internally and externally, whilst increasing community and stakeholder penetration to meet challenging financial targets.

You will work closely with service managers and partner organisations to recognise identified and unidentified local need within the educational landscape, and inform the shape of future support for schools, colleges, NEET individuals, adult learners, as well as other agencies.

You will take responsibility for working across service areas and partners to establish and lead on a range of creative and diverse platforms for generating wider and increased participation with services, including the provision of information and awareness raising for key educational priorities across all phases (EYFS, KS1-4, NEET, Post-16, Adult Education). You will work innovatively within the challenges of local authority budgets to develop and deliver targeted, high quality engagement plans.

You will be responsible for recruiting, line managing and providing mentoring support for an apprentice who will support the Engagement Specialist function.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of Equality and Diversity, and an appreciation of the interconnectivity of education within a complex political landscape, and have experience of working with educational networks across multiple phases.

You will be joining a large enthusiastic and professional team, and will be well supported by our experienced senior management team.

The successful candidate should hold the following essential criteria:

  • Experience of working across different phases of education
  • Experience of undertaking the managing of projects of variable scales
  • Knowledge of Governmental directives and key priorities
  • Experience of using MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience of working within deadlines and budgetary parameters
  • Experience of mentoring
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • GCSE Grade 9 - 5 English and maths qualifications (or equivalent)

It would be useful for the candidate to also have the following desirable criteria:

  • Experience of working with a range of diverse and challenging agencies
  • Experience of working within education settings
  • Knowledge of the local area and the community
  • A knowledge of the inspection regime

You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and be an effective team player, with the ability to understand and work within the political context at a senior level. You will be contributing to the financial income targets of the team through a detailed practical knowledge of market implementation and engagement.
