Accessibility Support Officer - Digital Services | Inclusion and Assurance Team

Salary: Scale SO1 £31,122 - £32,112

Permanent – Full time 36 hours per week

Overview: This is a great opportunity to join a successful, high performing Team, in an ambitious Council that is always striving to move forward. Our Digital Services Team is changing in the way we deliver our service and are reflecting the new ways of working with the use of Digital, Data and Technology in the most accessible possible way.

The Role:

We are looking for an innovative, and motivated Accessibility Support Officer. The post holder would provide personal support to the Head of SMG and identify and implement best practice in accessibility to support both the Council and Digital Services strategies.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Organise, attend and scribe during meetings for those with hearing difficulties; minute meetings (virtual / face to face).

2. Available to attend meetings / support HoS including out of hours / attending out of hours meetings, reporting and external meetings

3. To manage email, co-ordinate responses / prioritise working arrangements

4. Understand all aspects of Disability Awareness / Accessibility to ensure it’s included in our Strategy. Support our Heads of Service and Director in representation / acting as a sounding board for ideas and practical support.

5. Continuous accessibility improvement for staff and those delivering Digital Services

6. Support the running of the Disability Working Group (DWG); meetings, minutes, attendance, increasing attendance / work with third parties to implement best practice

7. Raise awareness of Accessibility in the organisation
