About Us:

Looking after our neighbourhoods – and the people who live there.

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Our new team of uniformed Wardens supports the police and other enforcement services by tackling community safety issues such as anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping, litter and graffiti. We work with residents to ensure the whole of the borough is a clean, safe, healthy place to live and work.

The Role:

You’ll be out and about on the streets of the borough, talking to residents, investigating complaints and responding to events. From unsafe scaffolding to stray dogs, dumped waste to vandalism, no two shifts will be the same. You’ll act quickly to prevent crimes and accidents but will also help to enforce regulations. Highly visible, you’ll be the public face of the council, providing reassurance and answering a wide range of enquiries. This is a great opportunity to do something meaningful for the local area and its residents.

There are a number of positions available both on a Permanent basis and on Fixed Term Contracts (12-months). Please state your preference in your Statement of Suitability within your application.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

We’re looking for calm, confident people who enjoy interacting with the public. A background in retail, customer service or education would be ideal. We’ll provide full training but you’ll need a good level of stamina and physical fitness, as well as the ability to write brief reports. Honesty and integrity are vital, and you must be ready to work as part of a team. You’ll also need to be flexible: shifts include evenings and one weekend in every four.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Application process

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.

You should describe how you meet the person specification requirements for the position you are applying for in Section G of the application form.
