Senior Project and Policy Officer, Rough Sleeping

Job reference number: GLA3412

Grade: 9

Do you want to play a key role in tackling the issue of rough sleeping in the capital?

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join the GLA, to procure, develop, manage and monitor a range of rough sleeping services and initiatives commissioned by the Mayor as part of his multi-million-pound Life off the Streets programme to tackle rough sleeping in the capital.

You will be responsible for managing and monitoring providers’ performance against contractual obligations and expected outcomes, managing and monitoring the budgets of contracted and grant-funded services, and taking ownership of operational and strategic issues. As part of this, you will work collaboratively with providers to ensure that the best possible outcomes are achieved, where necessary producing performance improvement action plans.

Experience of contract monitoring for homelessness or other social care services is vital, as is an understanding of procurement processes. You will have a good track record of building and maintaining relationships and, in particular, a sound knowledge of issues around supplier relationship management. You will also have excellent organisational, project planning and problem solving skills, and experience of systems change.

Please ensure your supporting statement clearly addresses the person specification criteria (technical requirements and behavioural competencies).

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).  GLA staff are hybrid working up to three days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.

We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic candidates and disabled candidates who are currently underrepresented in our workforce. In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
