The Climate Emergency team in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where passionate and considerate professionals are tasked engaging with local residents and creatively tackling the climate change issues that impact the people of Westminster.
Our team member, Isabella has worked closely with local Primary Schools to create new initiatives that could help make Westminster a more sustainable, eco-friendly had the vision to team up with pupils in local Primary Schools to create new initiatives that could make Westminster a more sustainable, eco-friendly place to live, work, and play. Since joining the team, Isabella has engaged and collaboratively worked with many of the local schools. This has helped spread awareness of the climate emergency and motivated young people to take action in their schools and at home.
In addition to educating young people about the challenges we all face in relation to climate change, the projects and campaigns we’re working on at Westminster City Council are helping us to create a better, brighter future for everyone, even beyond the boundaries of our local authority. As a Senior Domestic Energy Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution to the future of Westminster. As a council, we are focused on becoming net zero carbon, holding the same ambitions for our entire borough. We recognise the important role we can play in supporting residents to reduce their energy consumption, and you’ll be vital to driving this forward.
You will support the delivery of policy and legislation in relation to domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty, providing insight and contributing towards strategic decisions.
You will lead on the design, development and management of new energy efficiency projects and services to help improve the homes of Westminster’s most vulnerable residents while ensuring Westminster’s homes meet the needs of a net zero carbon future.
Securing external funding to support the delivery of energy efficiency and fuel poverty projects will be crucial to sustained success, and you’ll lead the development of bids and business cases to secure these funds.
This role provides a great opportunity to lead on an important part of the Climate Emergency programme, contributing both towards the reduction of Westminster’s emissions and supporting residents during a particularly challenging time.

In this role, you will provide expertise on domestic energy efficiency issues including fuel poverty and carbon reduction, demonstrating an understanding of the relevant legislations and policies.
You’ll think creatively and develop, implement, and evaluate evidenced-based approaches to tackling energy efficiency.
You’ll need to work with a variety of stakeholders within the council, building effective partnerships and driving towards innovative solutions.
You’ll have the drive and enthusiasm to develop our expertise around domestic energy and fuel poverty, with the opportunity to further enhance your own knowledge and share this experience with other council teams.
You’ll have the skills and proactiveness to independently deliver projects, whilst also possessing the ability to work collaboratively with teams across the council to achieve strategic goals.
This is a new and exciting role which will benefit from a proactive and inquisitive individual, willing to further explore the council’s capability to best support residents on domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty.
