About Us:

Because no two families are the same, no two days are the same.

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We have high aspirations for all our children and young people, including those who are looked after by the local authority.

Working across Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster Councils in a Shared Service agreement, our Fostering and Permanence Service takes a creative, collaborative approach to supporting placements and creating positive experiences for carers and children.

The Role:

Focused on providing post order support to children and their Special Guardians, you will engage directly with parents and carers as well as children and young people. This will include identifying and sourcing support services including therapeutic support and making applications for funding through the Adoption Support Fund. You will also take part in training programmes for Special Guardians and organise events for Special Guardians and children.

It’s a key role within our Fostering and Permanence Shared Service that contributes to quality life for children and young people while reducing reliance on independent agencies. To ensure we get the best from you, we offer plenty of opportunities to develop your professional skills and broaden your experience within the wider service.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

We’re looking for a qualified and experienced social worker with good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and permanent planning for children. You’re likely to have some experience of special guardianship or adoption processes. Outgoing and resilient, you’ll be capable of dealing firmly and tactfully with a wide range of people, sometimes in difficult circumstances.  You must be capable of organising and prioritising a busy and varied workload. Good negotiation skills are essential to deal with the financial aspects of the role.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Application process:

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.
