Specialist Advisory Teacher – Physical and Medical Team (Permanent, Full Time)

Job Hours: Teachers pay and conditions

Location: Ray Lodge office, 91 Ray Lodge Road, Woodford Green, IG8 7PG

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we’ve developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We’re one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our school based Specialist Education and Training Support Service (SEaTSS). SEaTSS is a large multi-disciplinary specialist teacher team consisting of over 50 staff members, 4 teams, 2 Deputy Heads, 4 senior teachers and Head of Service supported by a team of approximately 30 teachers, 5 HTLA’s and 3 technicians.

We are looking to appoint highly self-motivated individuals to support the current management team to develop and expand our service. The service is re-focussing its priorities, moving away from supporting children and young people with EHCPs towards a more flexible early intervention model.

The post holder will need expertise in working with Students who have complex Physical and Medical needs. This role would suit Teachers who have had experience working in Special Schools/ Specialist provisions, and who are used to supporting students who have a range of needs such as epilepsy, tube fed, cerebral palsy, degenerative conditions. We are looking for experienced teachers who have taught across different phases of education, supporting students with a range additional learning/ physical/medical needs. Advisory teachers need to be well versed in best practice strategies and are able to support Schools/settings to improve the inclusion of learners with Physical and Medical needs. We are looking for experienced staff with hands on experience, that are able to advise and model these strategies to school staff.

If you have worked in Special School/ Specialist Provision, and if you have experience of training / supporting staff and families of students who have complex needs, this may be interesting role to share your expertise across a range of schools and settings.  We are looking for people who have positive, open and creative problem-solving approach who can add to our already extensive skill base and we can offer you a wide ranging training and support ethos which we feel will develop your professional knowledge.

No 2 days will ever be the same in SEaTSS so if you are looking for a new challenge come and join us!
