At Brighton & Hove City Council, we are looking to replace a number of our business-critical back-office systems with a new ERP solution. This includes our current HR staff management, recruitment, procurement, finance accounting and payment (including online) systems. To do this, we have a new opportunity for a project manager within IT & Digital.
The role will be hybrid working with the option to work from home for some of the time. Please note that the successful applicant will be expected to attend the Brighton & Hove offices as and when needed at the discretion of the service and needs of the role.
Interview date: Week commencing 12th December 2022
Fixed term for: 12 Months.
This role is available as a secondment to internal applicants in line with our secondment policy.
About the role
As the Project Manager, you will be joining the ERP programme at an exciting time to help deliver the procurement stage. You will be responsible for the day to day management of a number of data workstreams reporting into the service Programme Manager for the work you are delivering. You will be responsible for ensuring completion to agreed cost, time, scope and quality criteria and this may involve working and negotiating with external suppliers, as well as the management of a virtual project team.
A structured and methodical approach is essential as is an understanding of not only the IT & Digital services we provide but also the service areas you will be starting to work with. You must be an experienced project manager, ideally PRINCE 2 and have experience of managing multi-million pound budgets. Being a self-starter, knowledge or experience of ERP will also be beneficial. As a recognised expert in the theory and practice of project management you will develop good project management expertise in others and enhance project management processes in the organisation.
Therefore, you will have excellent communication, engagement and organisation skills together with credibility in the role. The post requires strong influencing skills and the ability to bring together project sponsors (usually senior managers), expert advisers, external consultants, contractors and end users together to form an effective team focused on delivery of the programme.
You will be joining a friendly, welcoming and supportive Change Delivery team of business analysts and project managers as well as working with the wider programme team including service areas, SMEs & other IT&D colleagues.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
