About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Extended Adolescent Service, within Brighton & Hove’s Specialist Adolescent Service.
The Extended Adolescent Service works with young people 11-18 who are at risk of CSE, CCE and becoming looked after. This post will carry a mixed case load including working with young people who are being, or are at high risk of being, criminally/ sexually exploited and who go Missing.
Many of the young people we work with have experienced developmental trauma and disrupted attachments, the development of a secure trusting relationship is a key aspect of our work. Work is mainly done with individual young people but can also involve work with siblings and families. Each intervention is designed to match to the young person’s specific needs, so the work is varied and creative. We provide a flexible needs lead, assertive outreach service which means some out of hours working and the provision of a limited on-call duty rota at weekends.
As part of the Families, Children & Learning directorate, we support a relationship based and whole family approach to the work, whilst respecting service-user confidentiality. We work closely with partner agencies, most notably Social Work, Youth Offending, Functional Family Therapy, Well-being Services and Schools, to identify and meet children & young people's needs.
We are looking for someone who has experience in working with exploited young people. The post holder will have experience and knowledge of risk assessment and safeguarding procedures. They will be confident in assessing need and planning work with young people
The post holder will be part of a close team but will also need to be able to work independently. There is good individual and group supervision and the post holder will have access to the council's comprehensive learning and development offer.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Working arrangements are subject to Government guidance at the time. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
