An exciting acting up or secondment opportunity in the Brent Web team

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

An exciting acting up or secondment opportunity has arisen in the Web Team. This post will start in January 2023. The existing officer will be taking maternity early in the new year.

Brent Council’s website and digital front door is managed by the digital experience team and falls under the remit of the Transformation department. Together, the team is responsible for ensuring the smooth-running of the council's core web platform and that the content on it is accessible, accurate and understandable for all our users.

Using evidence, data, user feedback and research, the Postholder will play a key role in managing and developing the council’s digital presence, ensuring that digital content is relevant, up to date and easy to find.

Supporting the Digital Customer Experience Manager and working with colleagues from all across the council, the Postholder will champion user-focused content and service design to develop user-centric web services. This includes the creation of, or change to a transaction, product or content and stretches across multiple digital and, where appropriate, offline channels.

The Person

You will be an advocate for our users and passionate about providing the best customer experience, providing advice and support to colleagues on how to create and develop effective user journeys, content and forms that effectively engage users, deliver a high level of customer satisfaction, and comply with all necessary web standards.

You should enjoy creating high-quality content, with a focus on writing for websites. Strong editing skills are a must.

Organisation and a flexible approach are key in this busy role, and you will need to manage a variety of requests and meet multiple deadlines. You will work with people at all levels, developing and maintaining good working relationships with services across the council.

This isn’t a technical role, but a general understanding of web technology, forms and platforms would be useful. A knowledge of content management systems is beneficial but training on all necessary systems will be provided.
