The Role:

The Safer Communities Service has a key role in supporting people throughout the borough and currently includes the following strands;

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) - Community Engagement - Crime Reduction, which includes the management of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) & Community Safety - Licensing – Prevent - Statutory Nuisance - The Public Health response to Violence - Trading Standards - Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) - Violence Reduction 

The Service is newly formed and as a result, we have a number of exciting opportunities 

Safer Communities Violence Reduction Team Manager:

The Violence Reduction Team brings together professionals from the local authority, health services and the police to provide a multi-agency approach to breaking the cycle of involvement in violence; both as victims and as perpetrators.

The Safer Communities Violence Reduction Team Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations and practice of the Violence Reduction Team within Safer Communities.

The role holder will develop and have responsibility for the performance management of the VRT project, the monitoring, evaluation and reporting to the central Violence Reduction Unit. Developing practice across the team and Safer Communities Service, ensuring that work completed is to a consistent high standard and that policies and procedures are fully implemented, whilst ensuring that young people and families receive a high quality service.

This role is multifaceted with co-chair responsibilities for multi-agency meetings. These meetings consider cases of concern, which includes children/young people at risk of or have been impacted by Child Sexual Exploitation, Criminal Exploitation, Missing Episodes, County Lines, and violence.

Location:

Whilst the service is primarily based in Holbeach Office in Catford, we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will support the Safer Communities Service to deliver on key strategies that ensure the delivery of this aim through their thorough understanding of violence reduction both nationally and locally.

An ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment will be second nature as will an ability to work on their own initiative with excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, and significant experience in developing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders from a range of diverse backgrounds.

Salary Details:

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
