Croydon holds a wealth of data across multiple systems and has invested resources in a number of innovative projects as part of a ‘Business Intelligence’ programme which has brought together datasets from multiple sources to offer new insights into our customers, demands and costs. 

The Council has a Microsoft Azure hosted Business Intelligence Platform with Power BI for visualisation, insight and analytics.  The BI team are preparing for the next level, renewing and building on our strategy. This includes providing more self-service BI to our analytical and report users therefore embedding the use of BI throughout the organisation. 

 

We are looking for a Business Analyst with demonstrable experience within a Business Intelligence, Data or Analytical team to join our team.

 

About you

You will provide the link between business users and BI developers. Assessing requests, working with colleagues to discuss and capture their business requirements for analytical information and BI reports. You will meet and build relationships with key stakeholders across the Council to identify solutions to their data and BI needs to support decision making and ultimately improve service delivery.

 

The role

This is an exciting time to join the Business Intelligence team who are seeking to ensure that the effective use of data is at the heart of the design and delivery of excellent services.  As such you will:

  • Capture detailed business requirements and translate these into workable and implementable BI solutions.
  • Work with requestors and subject matter experts to build analytical and report specifications. This may include facilitating collaborative design sessions with business users and service providers.
  • Work closely with BI Developers to design reports, providing clear, understandable data and visualisations in Power BI.
  • Lead and organise user acceptance testing.
  • Support analysts and data specialists throughout the organisation to use the corporate BI Platform/tools.
  • Update, implement and maintain procedures and documentation for the BI team.
  • Write and share communication and information about the BI team to the Council.
  • Champion the use of the use of Business Intelligence across the Council
